Expanding Foam vs Standard Filler – Which to Choose?

Expanding foam (this product) is the right choice for large gaps, cavities, and voids — particularly around pipes, cables, and structural gaps where a quick, permanent, insulating fill is needed. It expands to fill irregular shapes and bonds to most surfaces. Standard cartridge filler (also available) is better suited to smaller cracks, holes, and surface imperfections in walls and ceilings where a smooth, flush finish is required. For large gaps, always choose expanding foam.

How to Use

• Shake the can vigorously for at least 60 seconds before use
• Attach the straw applicator to the nozzle
• Insert the straw into the gap or cavity and spray in short bursts – the foam will expand significantly
• Fill the gap to approximately half full – the foam will expand to fill the rest
• Allow to cure fully – the foam will harden from the outside in – check packaging for full cure times
• Once fully cured, trim any excess foam with a sharp knife
• Sand smooth and paint over for a neat, finished result
• Clean the straw and nozzle immediately after use – cured foam cannot be removed
