Acrylic Sealant vs Silicone Sealant – Which Should You Use?
Acrylic sealant (this product) is the right choice for dry interior areas — gaps around door frames, skirting boards, coving, and interior woodwork. It’s paintable, easy to clean up with water, and blends seamlessly into the surrounding surface once painted. Silicone sealant is better suited to wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere that gets regularly wet — it’s fully waterproof and mould resistant but cannot be painted over. For interior decorating and gap filling before painting, always choose acrylic.
How to Use
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose material
- Cut the nozzle to the desired bead size and load the cartridge into a sealant gun
- Apply a smooth, even bead of sealant along the gap or crack
- Smooth with a wet finger or damp cloth for a neat finish – work quickly before the skin forms
- Allow to dry fully before painting – the sealant will turn from slightly translucent to bright white when dry
- Clean tools and excess sealant with water before it dries
- Paint over once fully dry for a seamless, invisible finish
Important Safety Information
- Keep out of reach of children
- Avoid contact with eyes – rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs
- Use in a well-ventilated area
- Not suitable for wet areas or external use – use silicone sealant for wet areas
- Store in a cool, dry place away from frost – do not allow to freeze
- Read the full label before use
